Hi may I take this opportunity to introduce myself. I was a student at Pimlico High in 1964 and 1965 after completing the scholarship year at Hermit Park State School. My maiden name was Jill Priory (now Scarterfield.)
I left Townsville in 1971 after my marriage and have since lived in Western Australia about 100 kms east of Perth in the Eastern Wheatbelt. I have been back to Townsville several times and caught up with ex school mates and friends. I am happily married with 3 grown up children.
I work at the Northam Regional Hospital and lecture in Health related topics at the local TAFE College. Unfortunately I am unable to attend the reunion due to other commitments, but I would like to say a BIG HELLO to fellow students and teachers and wish you all a successful and enjoyable reunion.
I look forward to receiving an update and photos of the event. Kind Regards Jill

So please let people know I would be glad to hear from those who remember me.

I was a student in early 60,s and again in 78-79 as a mature age student.
The first person caned was allegedly John Virtue who asked the principal "What’s the time Mr Wolf" about 10 minutes after the school started. He may be down South now.
We had a crazy science teacher who dropped a stick of phosphorus on the floor of the science lecture room. The room filled with dense white smoke he said, “don’t panic” but of course, everyone panicked and some screamed. It burned its way in to the room downstairs. Also a few students had to go to hospital when the chlorine was made. I still have my Physics and Chemistry books from 50 yrs ago.
We had chemistry sets in those days. Some boys in our class one even had a car (a humber super snipe). They had swapped some aluminium dust with me and were grinding it in a mortar and pestle under the house with red phosphorus and sulphur when it exploded. They had no hair on their faces or eyebrows. One was injured when the door was blown shut into his nose by the explosion.
The same guys were into rockets and made one to let off at the fete. It was sitting on the door from the ‘bash a bomb’ car. The school gathered around. The rocket hissed and fell over. People went running! David Peterson

My years at Pimilico were some of the best years of my life, meeting people from various backgrounds and still maintaining those relationships. I have also lost some dear friends but they will never be forgotten. Randall R.

Good memories of Years 9 & 10 - was a member of one of the largest all male classes at Pimlico - 42 of us in the academic / technical stream. 1975 was also a great year to be at Pimlico, school years were coming to an end and Pimlico was the largest SHS in Qld. Stephen S.

Being enrolled as a student of Pimlico High meant something during that period. We were proud to be recognised as students of Pimlico High. Graham A.

My days at Pimlico are memories I will never forget, I had the privilege of being a staff member working as a Lab assistant with Clare the blonde bombshell in the Science Department sharing the staff room with old teacher's from my junior years & then returning to school to complete my senior. More renown for my sporting prowess & mischief always up to pranks & in trouble. My academic prowess was achieved later in life, I think I sent George Herring grey, feared Ben Bonomini, had some good times with Copey & Wombat (Maths & Science), Bondy from Phys Ed. The thing I remember most at Pimilico is the quality of Education, the devotion of teacher's our Academic achievements & sporting achievements we were the best. Made some fantastic friends who I still remain in contact with, if anyone is interested go to Facebook.com there are a lot of past students posted, looking forwarded to the reunion in 2009 missed the past one's due to working overseas.

I attended Pimlico 1963-1965. My parents transferred from Townsville at the end of sub-senior so both I and the fun-times headed south.
My enduring memory of Pimlico is of the first rate education that was provided at a state school in that era. It was not uncommon for the top senior student in the state to have come from a country state high school. In my senior year (1966), a girl from Maryborough High school (Gail ?) topped the state and obtained 100% for both maths 1 & 2.
We had excellent teachers who must have worked exceptionally hard because our class in sub-junior and junior exceeded 40. That did not seem to limit the numbers of A’s that students (and teachers) were able to achieve in the public (written) exams.
Mrs Moody was a superb teacher who would accept nothing less that top quality written work in English and Geography but was ever so encouraging for us to attain her benchmark on what we were capable of producing. This experience, at the right stage of my development, has been of immense benefit to me post-school. She had scant respect for lazy people and that could be understood by the huge effort she put in.
Mr Bonomini was everything an adolescent lad could ask for in terms of teaching Physics and coaching football and swimming. Miss Simmons taught maths A and took a lot of interest in our class to ensure that we were rounded in our school experiences. Mrs Perry’s elegant and formal geometry lessons swung me over to a long engagement with maths.
The very solid education I received set me up to pursue further training and a career and I am indebted to those wonderful teachers who put so much effort into their vocation. I made some effort to carry the baton.
Mr Elms introduced me to the fine art of running 440 yard repeats (quarters in the old lingo) to get fit and I somehow did a lot of this in the years subsequent to Pimlico. He was always generous with his weekend time as well in coaching our cricket team and convincing me to run faster at athletics. Mr Rainie was the best football coach I had and Gary/Victor Cummins even at 17 was an excellent captain. I had the good fortune to play alongside Cummo and he made me look better than I was.
My cohort had some impressive people. The passing years have not dimmed my awe of Barbara Store and Dale Nott for their intelligence. Both were extremely unassuming and modest. Beris Gwynne is one whom I am aware has excelled in her career.
If asked to compare then and now, I recall that I had a clunker bike but never locked it. Now my bike would not last 10 minutes unless it is chained to the post.
My enduring mate was Robert Coulter. We met aged 8 in 1957 and stayed close friends across many different towns until his early passing in 2007.

I remember being in the first intake of Army Cadets at the school. Charles Coch was Company commander and one of the teachers was a guy we called "Spike Honour" for his haircut, the second teacher involved was a guy called Haywood, and three guys who I remember well were the three Davids, David Dall, David Thomas and the third David escapes my memory for now. David Dall and I fought it out for the honours in weapons skills. From memory David won the rifle and I won the machine gun honours. Many a story exists of some brazen feats during camps in
Selheim Army Camp near Charters Towers. My father was the 4 Cadet Battalion instructor regular army in those days.
Some names from the days of the school Operas were Joan White, Geoff Prosser, Marilyn Darrick, Ray Newman, Marina Calavaro and so many more. As more comes
from the mists of those wonderful days of innocence I'll forward them on. Some class names were, John Ball, Bob Wright, Bill Rose (been looking for him for years, last heard of in Ingham) Bob Page. Somewhere I have a class photo.
Regards
Anthony West
